Prime Minister Andy Burnham welcomed President Volodymyr Zelensky to Downing Street on Wednesday as the Ukrainian leader seeks support from his European allies five years after Russia's war on Ukraine.

Burnham told Zelensky that Britain would "stand by you forever" and that he was speeding up the delivery of air defenses to Ukraine.

Burnham previously told lawmakers that he would try to repair "bridges" between Ukraine and the United States and that Ukraine would not leave "empty-handed."

The two leaders met at 10 Downing Street, where Zelensky was greeted with a ceremonial military guard - believed to be a first for a foreign leader.
