The Chinese company Step Terminal has introduced its newest phone called STEPX Neo with the same approach. This device is not just a smartphone, but a platform for an artificial intelligence assistant that will transform the way we interact with applications. The main goal of this artificial intelligence phone is to provide a user experience without the need for direct intervention in software management.
STEPX Neo: intelligent assistant for managing applications
STEPX Neo is Step Terminal's first smartphone integrated with Amoo's built-in artificial intelligence assistant. Unlike standalone chatbots, this assistant is deeply integrated into the operating system and manages tasks across multiple applications. This phone works on the proprietary Step AOS 1.0 operating system, which provides features such as long-term memory and task scheduling for the Amoo assistant.
A separate MiniLED display on the back of the device displays the status of the Amoo Assistant. Also, voice control with six microphones, a low-power audio chip and the Whisper 1.0 algorithm ensure better performance in noisy environments. Step Terminal company claims that the dedicated sound chip consumes only 1.2% of the battery during 24 hours of continuous operation. The design of this AI phone is described as "meta-futuristic with a touch of the past", revealing the mechanical components of the device with its transparent back.
Price, specifications and uncertainties of Step Terminal artificial intelligence platform
The STEPX Neo is available at a starting price of 3,999 Chinese Yuan (approximately US$560). This package includes Snapdragon 8 series chip, 16 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory. Buyers also get StepAOS, Step Studio tools, and access to Step AI models. This price also includes 12 months of the STEPX Token Plan, which offers 100 billion tokens per month. Step Terminal calls this an "all-inclusive price" that includes hardware, software and access to AI. However, the company has yet to provide an explanation of what the costs will be after the first year or whether additional payments will be required to continue using the AI capabilities.

The pre-sale of this device will start on 22 Mehr 1405 (13 October 2026) and the main sale will start from 25 Mehr 1405 (16 October 2026) in China through platforms such as Tmall and Douyin. Step Terminal has announced that the first 10,000 customers who meet the conditions of the "Amoo Growth Plan" will be able to replace their STEPX Neo phone with any other new model of this brand within the next five years. About 100 partners, including Alipay and Tencent, are working on this project.
