A fourth boy, who was not present at the time of the search warrant, will be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation, police said.

"I'm just lucky to have him alive... he's having nightmares," she said.

Superintendent Dan Davison acknowledged the concern the attack had caused in the Stawell community and said police were working to identify those responsible.
"Since last Monday, local police and detectives have worked tirelessly to identify and prosecute those involved, and this important work will continue," Davison said in a news release.
"There is never any excuse for violence in our society and we do not accept it in any form.
"Detectives are continuing to investigate this matter and while we are treating it as an isolated incident, extra patrols will be in place across Stawell to ensure our community is not only safe, but feels safe."
Police said more patrols would be deployed throughout the area as Stawell continued to investigate the attack as a detective.
