Hemmati: The central bank's foreign exchange priority is to provide people with basic goods

The Governor General of the Central Bank, explaining the monetary and foreign exchange policies of the country in the conditions of war, embargo and restrictions on the transfer of financial resources, announced that curbing inflation, strengthening economic resilience and supporting production are on the agenda of this bank, and in the foreign exchange sector, providing basic and essential goods to the people is a priority.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Abdulnaser Hemmati - Governor General of the Central Bank - in the gathering of the heads of central banks of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia (MCI) countries in Bangkok, he explained the monetary policy of the Central Bank in war conditions, sanctions and restrictions on the transfer of financial resources.

In this meeting, he said: Our policy response is adjusted with the aim of curbing the acceleration of inflation and strengthening economic resilience in terms of available foreign exchange reserves.

The Governor of the Central Bank added: This reaction is mainly due to the limitations of the quantitative growth of banks' balance sheets, measures to strengthen the quality of assets and financial health of banks, and the allocation of reserves through open market operations, credit lines and financial supply chain tools in order to strengthen production.

Hemmati pointed out: In the foreign exchange sector, our priority is to supply basic and essential goods to the people.
