MTG's new Foundations Commander deck returns to online retailers after being out of stock
Magic: The Gathering's 2026 Foundations Commander is back at major retailers after an online shortage following its launch in early October.
Magic: The Gathering's Foundations Commander new decks are back in stock at major online retailers, including Amazon, after being in short supply since their arrival alongside Reality Fracture.
These five decks arrived on October 2, 2026, giving players an accessible way to get started with Commander, MTG's most popular multiplayer format. Each deck is very affordable, with a different monochromatic strategy built around a familiar creature type or playstyle, from angels and dragons to dinosaurs, zombies and artifacts.
MTG base decks are almost all in stock
It's worth noting that, unfortunately, the price of some of these pre-orders has increased. Despite the $30 MSRP, they've gone up a bit since launching in early October due to months of intermittent stock shortages for pre-orders.
However, despite this, there are still some pretty good deals to be had when you compare the prices to the current market rates on TCGplayer. For example, Reign of Dragons (single red deck) is currently available on Amazon for $35.44, while single black zombie-focused deck Wretched Ranks is $39.99. Wretched Ranks matches its market rate, but Reign of the Dragons is significantly lower than its current average price of $47.68 on TCGplayer.
On the other hand, Keen Engineering's Artifact-heavy single-blue prequel is up to $43.07, but we expect it to drop quickly - it's the only deck that's been selling below MSRP frequently in recent weeks, and has a current market price of $30.26 on TCGplayer.
The best deal, however, is undoubtedly Calling All Angels. The very fun (and very powerful) Mono-White Angels deck is back in stock, priced at $29.99 (MSRP), $22 below the current market average of $52.
Pricing continues to rise for these categories now, with five-tier packs averaging around $195, more than $45 above the $149.95 MSRP.
That's an average of $39 per deck, which isn't exactly terrible, but I'd encourage you to buy the individual decks, or wait a little longer for the prices to drop again. The closer you can get to the target list price of $30 per deck, the better.
Tramplesaurus Rex, the dinosaur-based mono-green deck, is still not back in stock. That means it's climbing the secondary market, fueled by reprints of cards like Surrak and Goreclaw.
We've seen it go as high as $60 at companies like TCGplayer, and as much fun as it is to overwhelm your enemies with big dynasties, it's not worth paying twice the price.
We expect Wizards of the Coast to reprint these decks regularly because the Foundations title is attached to them, meaning players will have an easier way to jump into the format.
When they do, expect all of these decks, including the green deck, to go under when this happens. So watch out for it!
Foundations is an ideal starting point for new players - or for those of us looking to share the Commander format with friends or family.
Calling All Angels A simple single white angel deck, by Giada, Font of Hope. Reign of Dragons is a single red dragon deck with Lathliss, Dragon Queen, while Tramplesaurus Rex moves quickly to take out big dinosaurs like Commander, Ghalta, Primal Hunger.
Then there's Ghoulcaller Gisa, who leads the mono-black Zombie/Victim deck Wretched Ranks, and finally Sai, Master Thopterist, whose mono-blue deck, Keen Engineering, is all about artifacts.
These are all well-worn styles of play, but the point here is cohesion rather than competition. These bundles are easy to hand out to friends over the holidays and say, "Let's play a game," while giving them a little guidance on their preferred play style.
