We tried to provide the best conditions for the Iranian sports caravan
The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, while explaining the performance of the Iranian sports convoy in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, explained the conditions of Japan's hosting and the status of Iranian athletes.
According to the reporter of Mehr, the 20th Asian Games was held from 28 September to 12 September, hosted by Nagoya, Japan, and the Iranian sports team won 19 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals, and placed in sixth place in the medal distribution table.
Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, explained the performance of Iranian athletes in the 2026 Asian Games in a press conference held today, Monday, October 20, at the place of the National Olympic Committee.
Mehdi Alinejad said in this meeting: Considering the events that happened in the games of Islamic countries last year, I said at the same time that these games are an important stop for us on the way to the Asian Games. These two events are connected. We considered the Asian Games as our biggest project and we took many measures to provide the best conditions for the series.
He added: In this way, we held about 150 specialized meetings with the sports federations involved in the games and tried to involve all sports-related departments in this planning. The National Olympic Academy also served the national teams in different dimensions during this period; From organizing camps to measurement services. As one of the most equipped assessment centers in the country, the academy played an effective role in developing a guide for coaches so that they can evaluate whether their team's preparation is going right or not.
Alinejad continued: In the field of psychology, we tried to ensure that no team is without a psychologist. The National Olympic Committee selected psychologists and introduced them to the teams because this field is one of the topics that has received less attention in Iranian sports. Along with that, we provided continuous nutrition consultations for the national teams and launched the Exercise Science Department. Trainers related to the Asian Games presented their bodybuilding programs in this department, and the present professors, including prominent professors of the country, made suggestions to improve the training programs.
The secretary of the National Olympic Committee said: We also tried to provide the necessary financial resources and support the teams. Several workshops were held for the leaders of the expedition teams, and we even organized a course coordinated by the International Olympic Committee, which documents were also presented. This happened for the first time.
