After Defeat Comes Victory: Abolfazl Zandi's Formula for a Comeback
Abolfazl Zandi says that after the bitterness of Nagoya's injury, he fought in Paris solely to make up for it and to lift the spirits of the people.
According to "Varesh Se", the national taekwondo team spent the last month participating in the prestigious tournament of Nagoya Asian Games and Paris Grand Prix. Two heavy tournaments that were accompanied by two completely different experiences for Abolfazl Zandi. In Nagoya, he was fighting as a weight representative of -58 kg, after a victory against a Tajik opponent, he was injured against a Kazakh taekwondo player and could not continue the competition. The incident that caused his bitter removal.
While there were concerns about Zendi's injury, he performed brilliantly in Nagoya to win the gold medal. An incident that showed Abolfazl the ups and downs of possible events within a month.
Now Abolfazl Zandi has returned to Iran with other members of the caravan and says:
"I thank God that after the events in Nagoya, I was able to make a good comeback and show my best performance in this Grand Prix. "For the Olympic quota, the Grand Prix has more points than the Asian Games."
He also says about the circumstances of his medal:
"I had four matches and I defeated my opponent in the final, who was the Olympic champion, for the third time. In the Asian Games, I was ashamed of the people that I could not get the result I deserved. I hope I can make up for it in the next matches and win the hearts of the people. I thank them for always praying and supporting me. I hope I can make their hearts happy."
Zandi, who experienced ups and downs in a few weeks, emphasizes one point:
"This is the path; One side wins and the other side loses. In my opinion, someone can reach the Olympic medal, which is the dream of every athlete, if he works hard on this path, perseveres, does not get discouraged when he falls and continues. I put this at the top of my life, that behind every loss, there is a victory. I am always hopeful because man lives by hope. I thank everyone who helped me along this path."
