The budgeting system aggravates the scientific gap of low-income provinces

Ilam - The president of Ilam University said: the budgeting system aggravates the scientific gap of low-income provinces.

According to Mehr reporter, Homayoun Moradanjadi, at the meeting of the think tank of the province in the presence of the secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution of the country, pointed out the responsibility of universities in the development of underprivileged areas and stated: The mission of Ilam University is not only limited to education and research, but this university should also play a supporting and guiding role in the fields of technology, culture and economic and social development of the province.

He added: The conditions of universities in privileged regions are not the same as universities in provinces like Ilam, but these differences are not considered enough in planning and resource allocation.

Moradanjadi continued: In rich provinces, there are research centers and other capable institutions to support development, but in Ilam, the mother university of the province must take on a significant part of these responsibilities. Therefore, fulfilling this role requires support according to the missions and needs of the university.

Referring to the method of distribution of scientific and technological credits, he said: When credits are distributed based on the number of universities or performance indicators, universities in low-income regions face more limitations in attracting resources due to the weakness of the existing infrastructure, and this issue can increase the scientific gap between provinces.

The president of Ilam University called for the provision of special credits for low-income provinces by the Vice President for Science and Technology and emphasized: Targeted support for these universities creates the basis for strengthening scientific infrastructure and providing more equal opportunities for technology development.

He added: Academic assistants and university staff also play a role in promoting educational and research activities along with faculty members, and it is necessary to pay attention to the extremely special issue and welfare of this group.

The president of Ilam University also emphasized the need for special support for elites and doctoral students and said: providing suitable conditions for elites to continue their education and scientific activity will help the scientific progress of the country and is effective in preserving human capital and preventing the migration of talents.

Referring to the lack of laboratory equipment and the limitations of the university's technological infrastructure, he said: Achieving the country's scientific goals and improving its scientific status in the region requires serious attention to the research facilities of the universities.

Moradanjadi stated: Without providing equipment and strengthening the laboratory infrastructure, it will be difficult to achieve the goals of scientific development, and it is necessary to increase national support in this field according to the needs of universities.

In another part of his speech, the president of Ilam University, referring to the geographical location of the province and its proximity to Iraq, said: having about 420 kilometers of common border has provided an important capacity for the development of scientific, cultural and technological interactions between Ilam and Iraq.
