Anthony Scaramucci on Katie Zacharia's tenure as White House press secretary, which turned out to be shorter than her 10-day stint as Donald Trump's communications director in 2017.

"Records are made to be broken," Scaramucci wrote in X. Then he added, "But I don't enjoy other people's pain."

Records are made to be broken. But I do not enjoy the pain of others.

Zakaria's job as press secretary ended on Friday after less than a week. His departure came after his first press conference on Tuesday, which lasted just 14 minutes and was, in Sean Hannity's words, "extensively scrutinized." Zakaria also faced questions from Hannity and others about his previous labeling as a lawyer, even though he failed the California bar exam. Scaramucci has joked about his tenure that the phrase "a Scaramucci" means 10 days. He was removed from his role in 2017 after he was quoted in a New Yorker story criticizing other members of the administration. He has since become a prominent critic of Trump and endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race.

Hours after his departure, Zakaria was still supporting the president.

"President Trump is a kind, wonderful, compassionate, thoughtful, enthusiastic and hard-working man," she wrote on X Friday evening. I wish more Americans would appreciate him. No one will ever make America great like he did and continues to do. It was an honor to work for him."
