Google's $20,000 Reward for Users / Find a Chrome Bug and Get Rich
The tech giant has kicked off a major bug-hunting race by quadrupling Chrome browser security rewards, with hefty dollar prizes on offer.
By increasing the reward for discovering security vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser, Google has created more incentive to identify and report bugs.
In the new structure of the company's security reward program, the basic reward for reporting vulnerabilities related to memory corruption has quadrupled and reached $2,000. According to Google's official blog, the amount of the reward varies according to the type and importance of the vulnerability. Reporting bugs in the graphics processor and network section can have a $4,000 reward.
Also, a reward between 4,000 and 5,000 dollars has been considered for the vulnerabilities of the JavaScript V8 engine. The highest reward is dedicated to the vulnerabilities of high importance, which can reach 20,000 dollars if the necessary conditions are met. This program is implemented with the aim of identifying security problems before attackers abuse them and strengthening the security of the Chrome browser. Google has been asking security researchers to identify and report browser bugs before attackers abuse them by implementing the Chrome Vulnerability Reward Program. The amount of the reward is determined based on the type of vulnerability, the severity of the risk and the quality of the report.
