Annual Biotechnology Conference: A Step Toward Synergy of Laboratory Capacities and Interdisciplinary Research

The annual specialized biotechnology conference will be held in person and virtually. Its themes include presenting laboratory capacities and capabilities, exchanging knowledge and experience among specialists and researchers, and identifying shared research and technology areas. The national laboratory network and related scientific and research institutions will participate.

According to the Arya Heritage report, Prasto Irfanmanesh, a researcher and head of the Biodegradation Laboratory of the Research Institute for the Protection and Restoration of Historical-Cultural Artifacts of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, announced: Today, biotechnology has become one of the most effective areas in the development of interdisciplinary sciences; A field whose capacity has expanded from biological and genetic studies and the identification of biological factors to the development of diagnostic methods, new laboratory technologies, and specialized applications in the protection of cultural heritage and historical resources.

He added: holding an annual specialized biotechnology meeting in this direction and with the aim of creating a basis for the synergy of the country's scientific and laboratory capacities, exchange of specialized experiences and the formation of effective communication between research and laboratory centers is on the agenda.

Referring to the importance of laboratory infrastructure in the development of modern researches, this researcher stated: having specialized equipment and facilities can lead to the real development of research and technology when, along with it, there is a suitable mechanism for exchanging knowledge, introducing capacities, sharing experiences and communication between experts and laboratory centers.

Irfan Menesh added: One of the main goals of this meeting is to create a space for specialized dialogue between the groups that each have a part of the scientific and laboratory capacity of the country. This communication can lead to the identification of research needs, the definition of joint projects, the more optimal use of equipment and infrastructure, and the development of inter-laboratory collaborations.

According to him, in this meeting, specialized laboratory capacities and services in the field of biotechnology will be taken into consideration, and issues such as new laboratory technologies, methods of detection and identification of biological agents, genetic and microbiological studies and the application of these technologies in various scientific and research fields will be examined.

Irfan Menesh stated: Another focus of attention in this program is strengthening the link between biotechnology and interdisciplinary fields. In this framework, the connection of biotechnology with genetics, microbiology, biology, bioarchaeology and conservation and restoration sciences can provide new fields for conducting applied studies and developing specialized laboratory services.

Emphasizing the importance of this approach, the person in charge of the biodeterioration laboratory of the Research Institute for the Protection and Restoration of Historical-Cultural Monuments said: the field of cultural heritage also increasingly requires the use of precise and modern biological and laboratory methods. Identification of biological factors, genetic and microbial studies, monitoring of fatigue factors and development of diagnostic methods are among the fields that can benefit from the capacities of biotechnology and laboratory network of the country.

He continued: From this point of view, the connection between specialized laboratories, research institutes, universities and the country's laboratory network is not just an executive connection; Rather, it can lead to the formation of a common research ecosystem and the definition of new paths for scientific and technological cooperation.

According to this report, identification of common research areas, development of inter-laboratory and interdisciplinary collaborations, introduction of new laboratory technologies and methods, examination of existing challenges in the development of specialized services and more optimal use of laboratory equipment and infrastructure of the country are among the most important goals of this meeting.

This program will be held with the presence of faculty members and researchers, experts in laboratory sciences and biotechnology, officials and experts of laboratories, managers of research centers, experts of the country's laboratory network, specialists in genetics, microbiology and biology, experts in the field of conservation and restoration, and graduate students.

The annual specialized meeting of biotechnology can also be a platform for identifying the lesser-seen capacities of specialized laboratories, sharing experience between scientific centers and establishing a connection between research needs and existing capabilities; An approach that, if continued, will provide the possibility of turning this meeting into a continuous platform for scientific networking and the development of specialized cooperation.

This meeting will be held in person and virtually, and by creating a specialized space for dialogue and exchange of experience, it is trying to take a step towards strengthening the position of biotechnology in interdisciplinary research and targeted use of the country's laboratory capacities.
