Elon Musk's strange car finally flew; What features does the Tesla Roadster have?

Ambassador Arjan-Social Group: After years of promises and delays, Tesla finally unveiled the new generation Roadster at an event in Texas; But this time there was no news of an ordinary unveiling. The new sports car of the company moved on a very steep and almost upside down track in a strange display, separated from the surface and rotated in the air with the help of compressed air engines.

This car, which was first introduced in 2017, was supposed to enter the production stage much earlier, but its release was postponed many times. Now Elon Musk says that the production of the new generation Roadster is targeted for 2028.

One of the highlights of the show was the roadster going up a curved ramp and getting it almost upside down. For this part, Tesla has used a suction system in the lower part of the car, which, according to the company, can create a significant adhesion force and stick the car to the surface even on very steep roads.

But the weirdest part happened when the car left the end of the track. The so-called Cold Gas Thrusters controlled the vehicle's position in the air by using very compressed air and enabled it to turn and land. This technology was developed in cooperation with Tesla and SpaceX engineers.

Of course, this capability does not mean that the roadster can travel long distances in the sky like an airplane. The demonstration mostly consisted of jumping, spinning and short-term control of the car in the air.

In another part of the show, Tesla showed off the Roadster's acceleration capabilities. The company announced that the sample tested was able to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour, equivalent to about 97 kilometers per hour, in 0.81 seconds.

However, this number is an official claim by Tesla for now, and no reliable independent testing from sources outside the company has yet been published to confirm it. For this reason, this figure should be considered in the context of the performance of the demo model and Tesla's claims.

Tesla is also aiming for a top speed of over 230 mph and a range of over 300 miles for the new Roadster.

Tesla has introduced the new Roadster in several different configurations. The Performance version is intended for road use and the Thrust version is equipped with additional propulsion systems.

But the Rocket version is the most ambitious model; A one-person vehicle with a full suite of compressed air propulsion and features such as take-off, hovering and controlled landing are demonstrated.

The important thing is that Tesla has not yet presented this technology in the sense of a flying car suitable for everyday use. The demo version has also been tested under controlled conditions and there are serious restrictions on the possibility of public use of all its flight capabilities.

The new roadster is actually a combination of electric vehicle technology, advanced aerodynamics and technologies inspired by the space industry; A combination that shows that Tesla has considered more than a typical fast car for its sports flagship.

Despite this controversial show, the time of Roadster's definitive entry into the market and the final specifications of the production version are not known with complete certainty, and the promise of production in 2028 should also be evaluated considering the long history of delays of this project.
