Depot of 7,000 containers of dates at the borders and the prosecution's entry into export barriers
A union official strongly criticized the product depots at the borders and said: Currently, about 7,000 containers of dates are awaiting departure at the two borders of the country, and with the existing laws and obstacles, it is not possible to move them properly.
According to Mehr reporter, today, Saturday, 25th of Mehr 1405, a press conference of the National Date Association of Iran was held on the occasion of the National Day of Dates at the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture of Iran.
In this meeting, Mohsen Rashid Farrokhi, head of the National Date Association of Iran, emphasized the need for national solidarity, general agreement and acceptance of challenges, referring to the current dangerous conditions and the pressures caused by sanctions and economic blockade.
The head of the National Date Association of Iran stated that the conditions of the country are rare in the past centuries and clarified: Iran's people and economy will once again come out of these difficult conditions proud. Today, every economic activist, regardless of his position, should consider his work as a "Strait of Hormuz" and defend production and national interests with all his might. Just as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is active in the field of diplomacy and executive bodies in their responsibilities, the private sector also strives for Iran by standing in its specialized field.
Referring to the necessity of being critical and facing challenges realistically, Rashid Farrokhi added: In the current situation, we should not waste time presenting past statistics; Rather, we should see what works are left on the ground and listen to the demands and criticisms of the activists in this field with our heart and soul in order to overcome the problems.
Recalling that this ceremony was supposed to be held in the southern provinces of the country, he said: Considering the current conditions, it was decided that this year's meeting will be held in the Iran Chamber and in the context of the Government-Private Sector Dialogue Council, and we hope that in the coming years, with the improvement of the situation, we will be able to host the people of Kharma in the southern provinces.
In another part of his speech, the president of the National Date Association pointed out the many problems of traders and exporters and said: "The economic laws of the past are no longer responsive to the current conditions and the country needs urgent decisions and laws to remove the obstacles to production and trade."
He added: For example, the freight of some container export destinations has increased up to 12 times. With such staggering costs and central bank rate hikes, is it reasonable to expect customs base prices and currency returns to be calculated based on past years' routines and unrealistic prices? It is expected that the policy makers will make coordinated decisions by understanding the realities of the economic war.
Request to cancel the ceiling of commercial cards of Kharma area
The president of the National Date Association of Iran, in the continuation of the National Date Day meeting, referring to the production volume of one million, 400,000 to 500,000 tons of dates this year, demanded the removal of the ceiling of commercial cards for dates and other agricultural products, and emphasized the need to take urgent decisions to facilitate exports.
Rashid Farrokhi warned about the living conditions of the country's date producing provinces and said: More than 90% of date production belongs to the provinces that have suffered the most damage in terms of geography and geopolitics in various crises and wars. The direct livelihood of about 2.3 million people of these areas depends on the date industry, and this doubles the strategic importance of this sector.
He strongly criticized the product depots at the borders and stated: Currently, about 7 thousand containers of dates are awaiting departure at the two borders of the country, and with the existing laws and obstacles, it is not possible to move them properly. For this reason, the National Date Association has formed a crisis committee to follow up on problem reports every 10 days.
The head of Kharma Association also informed about the entry of the prosecutor's office of the revolution into economic obstacles and the determination of basic export prices and added: We welcome the entry of the judiciary and the prosecutor's office into economic problems. If someone is going to be impeached in this serious situation because of the omission, they should start with the servant himself. All of us, both private and public sector, must be accountable for our duties; Because the resources of the state administration and chambers of commerce are provided from the pockets of the nation, including the hardworking teachers who are present in the classrooms, and we have no right to be indifferent to the problems of production and export.
The full readiness of the private sector to serve the country and overcome crises
In the final part of his speech at the National Date Day meeting, the President of the National Date Association of Iran, emphasizing the commitment of economic activists to national interests, announced the full readiness of the private sector to accompany the government and accept supervision and legal challenges.
Rashid Farrokhi stated: With the lessons we have learned from our elders and teachers, we are ready to serve fully alongside the government and the private sector. We ask the regulatory bodies to challenge and reprimand us; If there is an error or omission on our part, we will be responsible and liable.
In the end, expressing hope for the future of the country, he stated: I hope that with empathy, unity and everyone's efforts, we will be able to make our dear and proud Iran, which deserves a much better position than the current situation, prosperous and proud again after these crises.
