Carragher is critical, Stevie J is in favor/Liverpool's clash over Florian Wirtz

Liverpool, including Jamie Carragher, are furious with Florian Wirtz, but Steven Gerrard believes he should be given a chance.

According to Sport Se, 23-year-old Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz, who made his way to the English Premier League with a lot of noise, continues to face a decline after a year of his presence in Anfield and is the target of severe criticism.

There is no doubt that Florian Wirtz's performance in Merseyside has not met the expectations of experts and fans. The German star has scored only seven goals and provided eleven assists in 56 official matches for the Reds.

More worryingly, Wirtz was unable to score a single goal against any of the top ten teams in the Premier League last season. With the arrival of Andoni Iraola, the situation did not improve and the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has sent only one assist in seven matches this season despite being in the regular lineup.

In the recent match between Liverpool and Manchester City, he was replaced in the 66th minute and replaced by young Terry Nivni.

These poor performances made Liverpool legend Jimmy Carragher and Sky Sports expert strongly criticize Wirtz today: "He should be left out of the team. Wirtz does not help the team in the defensive work, and in the offensive line, he does not create any danger in the opponent's goal. "The team needs a lot more impact these days."

On the other hand, ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard backed the German midfielder and said: "The lad is an amazing talent. "He just needs support, self-confidence and companionship in the current situation."

Currently, injuries to Alexander Isak, Cody Khakpo, and Dominik Soboslai have kept Iraola's hands tied for extensive changes in the offensive line, and he has little choice but to field Wirtz. However, if Wirtz does not increase his offensive efficiency, the waves of criticism against him in Anfield will intensify.
