Sanandaj Governor Criticizes Start of Zhaveh Dam Impoundment Without Environmental Permits

Sanandaj's governor criticized the start of impounding the Zhaveh Dam without obtaining the necessary environmental and health permits, saying that some 20 million cubic meters of wastewater flow annually from the Sanandaj treatment plant's overflow into the dam. As a result, he said, what is underway is not water impoundment but wastewater collection.

The governor of Sanandaj, criticizing the beginning of dewatering of the Javah dam without obtaining the necessary environmental and health permits, said: "Every year, about 20 million cubic meters of sewage enters this dam from the overflow of the Sanandaj treatment plant, and for this reason, what is being done is dewatering instead of dewatering."
