The brand strongly denies these allegations. Since the allegations came to light, he converted to Christianity and was baptized. Last year, he responded to the news in a video he shared on his social networks, stating: "I was never involved in non-consensual activities.

Detectives launched their investigation in September 2023 after receiving several allegations, following reports by Channel 4 Dispatches and The Sunday Times. One of the women told Dispatches that Brand had an affair with her when she was 31 and he was 16. She said their relationship lasted three months and that Brand was "emotionally abusive and controlling." According to the Sunday Times, another alleged that Brand raped her at his home in Los Angeles in 2012.

The allegations against him date back to between 2006 and 2013, when the brand was at its height, working on Big Brother's Big Mouth, Kings of Comedy and Big Brother's Celebrity Hijack.
