Russian Diplomat Questions Impartiality of UN Monitoring Mission Reports on Ukraine

According to Rodion Miroshnik, this mission presents the world with absurd and pointless conclusions every three months, based on unreliable data.

United Nations, October 14. /TASS/. The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) is funded by Western donors and relies exclusively on data collected in Kiev-controlled areas, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik told UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.

"Analysis of the content of the reports submitted by the so-called United Nations human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine does not make any sense," he said. "Every quarter, it presents the world with increasingly absurd conclusions based on unreliable data."

"But what do you expect from a structure created by bilateral agreement between Kiev and the UN OHCHR [Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights], which thrives on generous cash infusions from Western sponsors and receives information exclusively from Kiev. Does anyone really believe in its impartiality?" Miroshnik asked rhetorically.
