It was the dirtiest trick ever played in politics, creating the greatest mass delusion in American history. It was a bogus scandal and an epic scam that was corrupt from the start.

You'll recall that the damning narrative that Donald Trump somehow colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 presidential election gripped the media landscape and dominated political discourse for more than two years. It almost brought down an elected president.

The abuse of power was so stunning that the series had to be seen to be believed. It is based on a collection of recently declassified government records and other classified documents.

Without a shred of credible evidence, Trump was condemned in the court of public opinion by the Democrats and their stooges in the press who never bothered to dig up the truth or check the facts. Such trivia didn't stop them from promising Americans that the newly elected president was definitely guilty and would be dragged out of the Oval Office on his way to prison.

The malicious lie that Trump conspired with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin to manipulate the election was the brainchild of Hillary Clinton's campaign team. The sordid story was concocted as a way to distract from the growing Clinton email scandal and the wealth of Russian rubles that had flowed into her own foundation.

There was never a Trump-Russia collusion. However, there was an elaborate plot to falsely accuse him of collusion. Trump was set up and framed.

Declassified documents show that Hillary personally approved the plan to frame her opponent, while her campaign and the Democratic National Committee secretly funded the fabrication of a bogus case filed by a former British spy named Christopher Steele. It was then mediated by seditious colleagues at the FBI, the CIA, the Department of Justice, and sympathetic reporters.

This part of the strange story unfolds in the first episode, "Steel Trap".

The plot thickens when Clinton's smear is discovered by CIA Director John Brennan, who rushes to the White House to alert then-President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, FBI Director James Comey and others. Handwritten notes from participants in two consecutive sessions confirm what happened.

Instead of telling the truth to the people and the US Congress, Obama and his allies hid it. Then, armed with the bogus dossier, they used it as an excuse to implicate Trump as a Russian asset, knowing full well that he was not.

The deliberate disclosure to the Trump-hating media fueled the fire of collusion. They treated it as holy gospel and the hoax took off like a rocket.

Cash Patel accused the FBI of lying to obtain illegal spy warrants from Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

The second episode, "The Insurance Agent," reveals the undercover machinations of then-FBI agent Peter Strzok, who led the bureau's investigation despite expressing strong anti-Trump bias in endless text messages to his lover, FBI attorney Lisa Page. Their insulting comments humiliated Trump while exalting Clinton.

There was nothing remotely objective, impartial or fair about the FBI investigation. It was a fake witch hunt. In one of the "smoking gun" communications, Strzok assured Page that the investigation itself and its incendiary effect would serve as an "insurance policy" to bring down Trump. Strzok seemed to see himself as the honorable savior of the republic.

"Trick or Treat" concludes the third episode as Trump's enemies count down to Election Day and seek a secret, albeit legally flawed, warrant to spy. They also pursued an allegation that Trump communicated with Moscow through a secret computer server in the basement of his namesake tower in Manhattan.

Like so many other trumped-up charges, it was born out of the rich imagination of the Clinton insiders, who are determined to do anything to stop Trump. Data and documents are misrepresented to indicate that an offense has occurred where it did not exist.

Along the way, the CIA, FBI and other intelligence agencies followed orders from the outgoing president to dramatically alter key information before Inauguration Day in a diabolical attempt to implicate his successor as a Russian stooge.

This malign force of unelected officials was tricked into humiliating Trump. The documents prove that they relied almost entirely on a discredited case they knew to be bogus and skillfully manipulated it as a political cudgel to smear him. In the end, it didn't work.

While the nation held its breath, special counsel Robert Mueller and his team of partisans spent 22 months trying in vain to find some credible evidence of Trump's election meddling. But there was nothing to be found.
