Mayor of Mashhad: Mashhad Media Center is managed with the participation of Press House

Mashhad- The mayor of Mashhad announced an agreement to follow up on journalists' trade union and welfare demands, to use the capacity of the Media Culture Center for the activities of the Press House, and to cooperate in holding a press festival and exhibition.

According to Mehr reporter, Mohammad Reza Qalandarsharif said in a meeting with the board members of Khorasan Razavi Press and Media House on Monday evening: Today we had a good meeting with the board members of the Provincial Press House. Meetings with media activists had been held before, but the election of the new board of directors provided an opportunity to re-examine common issues and plan for further cooperation.

Mayor of Mashhad added: In this meeting, common issues between Mashhad Municipality and Press House were discussed, as well as areas of development of bilateral cooperation. The members of the Board of Directors of the Press House had legitimate demands and requests, and the city management also raised their views and expectations in order to solve existing problems and follow joint plans through mutual interaction.

Referring to the remaining demands from the past years, he said: During the last three to four years, in the meetings of the reporter's day and various meetings and visits with media activists, issues were raised, some of which have not been fully followed up and realized. In this meeting, it was agreed to re-examine and follow up these issues so that the past promises do not remain at the level of discussion and, if the conditions are available, they will be implemented.

Qalandersharif continued: In this regard, it was decided that Nemati, the mayor's top adviser, should follow up on the demands and issues raised in cooperation with the members of the board of directors of the Press House and through consultation with the members of the Islamic Council of Mashhad.

Emphasizing the necessity of paying attention to the needs of media activists, the mayor of Mashhad said: One of the axes agreed in this meeting was the examination of facilities and welfare services that can be provided to journalists and members of the press house. It was decided that the issues that can be followed up and approved in the Islamic Council of the city should be followed up with the cooperation of the Mayor's High Advisor and the members of the Board of Directors of the Press House.

He stated: The goal is to use the capacities of the municipality and the Islamic Council of the city to seriously pursue the realizable demands of the media community and provide appropriate services in the field of welfare and support for media activists. The realization of this issue requires the cooperation and interaction of the city management with the representatives of the media community of the province.

Referring to the problem of the physical space and the location of the press house, Qalander Sharif said: One of the concerns of media activists is having a suitable space to carry out trade and media activities. Mashhad Municipality has a media culture center that has adequate facilities and can meet some of the needs of the media community.

The mayor of Mashhad added: In this meeting, it was decided to examine the way of using the capacity of the media culture center for the activities of the press house and provide the management of the board of trustees of this complex with the participation of the media people. Based on this, with the cooperation of media activists, a number of members of the press house, and colleagues of the municipality, a suitable mechanism for managing this complex is to be designed.

He emphasized: Our effort is to use the existing capacities in the best way and with the participation of media activists, to provide the proper use of the facilities of the Media Culture Center so that this complex can play an effective role in solving some of the problems and needs of the press house and media people.

Referring to the importance of holding media events, Qalandersharif said: Another issue raised in this meeting was holding a press festival and exhibition. Considering that such events have not been held for some time, it was agreed to provide a basis for cooperation for proper holding of these programs.

The Mayor of Mashhad continued: In this context, Mashhad Municipality, through collections and associates related to the field of media, will stand next to the members of the press house and media of the province, so that with cooperation and synergy, the possibility of holding a press festival and exhibition will be provided.

He pointed out that these events can be a good opportunity to introduce media capacities and capabilities, strengthen communication between activists in this field, and improve the status of the press and media.
