Ulysse was not fined/Bayern waived the punishment of his star
Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberle rejected a financial fine for the team's French forward Michael Ulysses after he was sent off against Viking Stavanger in the Champions League.
"We discussed this issue within the club and closed the case," Eberl told Gazztarsh "Sport Se" ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga match tomorrow against Leipzig at the team's home stadium. "For us, this story is over."
After the 24-year-old Oliseh's teammates came back from a 2-0 loss at Viking Stadium, Michael Oliseh succumbed to the provocation of opposing player Zlatko Tripich and ended up punching him in the face and being sent off.
"That red card was a stupid thing," said Vincent Kompany, the head coach of the team, in evaluating this match, which ended with a 3-3 draw due to the Norwegian team's use of man advantage in the final minutes.
Former German national team player Lothar Matthaus also tried to downplay the importance of the issue when referring to the possible fine. He said on a German channel: "His mistake should not be ignored, but he should not be punished twice or three times for the same thing. He himself knows what he did wrong. He just has to learn from this."
