Hail Causes 1,500 Billion Rials in Damage to Piranshahr Orchards

Urmia – Director of Agricultural Jihad in Piranshahr said heavy hailfall damaged 85 hectares of orchards in the Piran area of the county.

Urmia - Director of Piranshahr Agricultural Jihad said: Heavy hail damaged 85 hectares of gardens in Piran region of this city.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Omar Alipour, in this context, stating that the amount of damage caused to the gardeners is estimated to be around 1,500 billion Rials, he said: After the occurrence of heavy hail and the report of damage to the gardens of Piran region, the management experts of the city's agricultural jihad were immediately dispatched to check the condition of the gardens and assess the amount of damage to the affected areas.

He added: According to the investigations, 80 hectares of apple orchards and five hectares of grape orchards in the region have been damaged, and the amount of damage to gardeners has been estimated at 1,500 billion Rials.

Director of Piranshahr Agricultural Jihad said: The reports related to the damages caused to gardeners have been submitted to the crisis management headquarters of the city to investigate the condition of the affected farmers and follow up on the necessary support.

Referring to the low level of insurance coverage of the city's gardens, Alipour said: less than five hectares of Piranshahr's gardens are covered by insurance, which can make compensation for damages caused by natural disasters more difficult for the gardeners.

Emphasizing the importance of supporting the affected farmers, he said: it is necessary to investigate the damages and follow up the matter through the responsible agencies to address the situation of the gardeners and provide them with support.

Hail rain has affected most of the southern regions of West Azerbaijan during the past few days and many farmers have been damaged.

The low level of garden insurance coverage also highlights the need to pay more attention to agricultural products insurance and support gardeners against natural disasters.
