Qualcomm has denied overheating of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip

Qualcomm called the overheating claim of its new flagship processor "100% false".

Qualcomm called the overheating claim of its new flagship processor "100% false".

According to Ambassador Arjan and based on Zomit's report, Korean media reports indicated that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor experienced an overheating problem and a speed drop during internal tests of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. A Qualcomm representative immediately denied the rumors, calling them "100 percent false."

Dan McGuire, Qualcomm's chief marketing officer, tried to clarify the issue by releasing a message: "There are no structural or systematic thermal defects in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. At the time of launching their products, companies continuously optimize and adjust the platforms and are always trying to create a balance between efficiency and energy consumption to optimize the value of the products according to different user scenarios. We are working together to provide the best results to users."

The ambiguous point in McGuire's description is the mention of the standard version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 instead of the more powerful Extreme model. The Extreme flagship model comes with a stronger graphics unit, higher boost frequency, and faster RAM, and more clarity in rejecting the claims surrounding this particular version could ease the minds of experts.

Qualcomm's powerful chip had previously faced reports of sudden crashes, black screen and reboots for no reason among Chinese users, although experts considered the reason to be incorrect firmware voltage settings and not an inherent defect in the chip.

Dan McGuire continued: “I wonder who benefits from the perpetuation of negative narratives, baseless claims and yellow headlines. "Basically, these are just complete lies... I'm really surprised."
