Sirjan Stone Castle could become a symbol of this county's history
The head of the Registration, Preservation and Revival of Cultural and Natural Heritage Center at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts announced plans to protect the stone staircase of Sirjan Stone Castle, study and read its inscription, build a full-scale replica for public display, and pursue archaeological excavations and restoration of this historic complex.

The head of the Center for Registration, Preservation and Restoration of Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts announced the planning for the protection of the stone staircase of Seng Sirjan Castle, the examination and reading of the inscription of this work, the construction of a similar model with real dimensions for public display and the follow-up of archaeological excavations and restoration of this historical complex.
According to Aria's Heritage Reporter, Alireza Izadi, accompanied by Seyyed Movid Mohsennejad, Director General of Kerman Province's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, in a meeting with Seyed Rahim Razavinasb, the governor of Sirjan, emphasized the necessity of protecting the valuable historical elements of the Stone Fort complex and planning for the restoration and organization of this work.
The head of the registration center of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, referring to the increase of public attention to the historical and cultural monuments of the country, said: the society's attention to the historical and cultural heritage is a positive and valuable event, and the government's view is based on the protection of the identity heritage and historical roots of the country, in the meantime, the protection of the landmark historical monuments of the cities plays an important role in safeguarding the cultural and civilizational identity of different regions of Iran.
Pointing to the importance of the stone staircase of Seng Sirjan Castle, he added: This staircase is one of the valuable historical elements of the Seng Castle complex, which requires special protection measures due to environmental erosion and human damage, therefore, its transfer to a safe place with the cooperation of the governor and with the aim of reducing natural and human risks and preventing further damage, should be one of the priorities of the agenda.
Yazidi further stated: Due to the presence of restoration experts in Sirjan, preliminary measures will be taken to check the condition of the work and implement its strengthening and protection operations, as well as the reading and examination of the text engraved on the stone staircase will be followed with the use of experts and the Cultural Heritage Research Institute in order to document and record the historical information of this work more accurately.
The head of the Registration Center of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage emphasized the necessity of coordination for the implementation of conservation programs and stated: With the cooperation of the Sirjan governor, a suitable place has been determined for the transfer and maintenance of the stone staircase so that after the initial measures and documentation are completed, the long-term protection conditions of this work will be provided. Also, the construction of a sample with real dimensions for public display is in the plan to be carried out in cooperation with the executive administration of the city, so that while protecting the original work, it will be possible for people to visit and familiarize themselves with this valuable historical element.
In another part of his speech, he pointed out the necessity of conducting archaeological studies and excavations in the Seng Fort complex and said: With the cooperation of the governor in attracting the participation of industrial and mining companies of the city, the follow-up of a season of archaeological excavations in this complex is on the agenda, and further, with the participation of mining companies and taking advantage of the social responsibility capacity of economic enterprises, we can provide the necessary resources for the restoration and organization of the castle.
In the end, Izadi emphasized: The purpose of these measures is to fundamentally protect the historical and architectural values of Qala Seng and to provide the context for its proper introduction to the people and tourists so that this complex can regain its true position as one of the symbols of the history, culture and identity of Sirjan city.
