Events of Dey 1404 Inspire the Narrative of the Novel 'Yesterdays of Tomorrow'
The author of 'Yesterdays of Tomorrow', referring to the connection between the memoirs of a Sacred Defense martyr and the events of Dey 1404 in this work, said: I tried to portray the link between the Sacred Defense generation and society's current conditions in this book.
Samiye Soleimani Shijani, the author of the book "Yesterdays of Tomorrow", announced the publication of this book focusing on the life of martyr Mohammad Bagher Ebrahimnejad, one of the martyrs of the holy defense of Khammam city of Gilan province, in an interview with Mehr reporter and said: In this book, I tried to depict the continuity of the spirit of love for Iran and self-sacrifice in different generations by connecting the memories of the martyr to contemporary events.
Referring to the formation of the idea of this book, he stated: The sister of martyr Mohammad Baqer Ebrahimnejad had compiled the memories of her brother in a documentary form and published them, and she was interested in publishing these memories in the form of a newer book with a new approach. We decided to present a new narrative of this martyr's life by choosing the format of a fictional biography and to go beyond mere memoirs.
The author of the book "Yesterdays of Tomorrow" added: In order to form this narrative, we started the story from the present time and then by going back and forth between the past and the present, we recounted the memories of the martyr's life. The goal was for the audience to learn about the martyr's life and to understand the connection between the sacrifice of the generation of the holy defense era and the current conditions of the society.
Soleimani Shijani, referring to the impact of the events of January on the formation of the book, said: The writing of this work began after the events of January. Considering the events of the 18th and 19th of January and the events that happened in Gilan province and Khammam city, we decided to make one of the nights of those days the starting point of the story.
He continued: The main character of this part of the narrative is the martyr's sister who lives in old age. Facing the events of the present, he reviews the memories of his martyred brother and returns to the past by referring to his letters and memories. In this way, the narrative moves between today's events and the martyr's life during the holy defense period.
Emphasizing that the events of December are not the main focus of the book, this author said: In this work, we have not dealt with those events extensively and have only mentioned some incidents, including the burning of mosques and street incidents. These sections were written based on the events that happened in Khammam and Gilan province in those days. After it was written, the martyr's sister read the text and confirmed the occurrence of these events.
He explained about his purpose of linking the past and the present in this book: We wanted to show that the spirit that led Iranian youth to the fronts during the holy defense period still exists in the society. The character of Shahid's sister, despite her old age, is still concerned about defending the country and wants not to be passive to the events around her.
Soleimani Shijani added: In this way, we tried to show the role of martyrs in protecting Iran and the impact of their sacrifice on the future of the country. The title "Yesterdays of Tomorrow" was also chosen based on this; Because the future of Iranian society cannot be separated from the past and the blood of young people who sacrificed their lives to protect this land.
About the sources used in writing the book, he said: Our main source was the memories that the martyr's sister had collected earlier and published in the form of a documentary book, and we also established a relationship with them. Before starting the writing, I had studied the life of the martyr, but the writing of the book started seriously after the events of January.
Referring to the age group of the audience of this work, the author of "Yesterday of Tomorrow" noted: Although I have previously written two novels for teenagers with the titles "Farar Mardosh" and "The Last Man of the Game", the book "Yesterday of Tomorrow" is not for teenagers and its main audience is adults.
In the end, he said: The book "Yesterday of Tomorrow" was published by Quds Publishing House, Gilan, and its distribution and sale is also the responsibility of the same publisher.
