Tactical PC FPS Squad Heads to Consoles, PS5 Alpha Playable Later This Month
Acclaimed PC Shooter Squad Launches on Consoles, PS5 Players Can Try It Soon
Acclaimed PC shooter Squad is coming to consoles – and PS5 players will soon be able to experience it.
Developer Offworld Industries has announced that Squad will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5. PlayStation players can give it a go later this month with a playable alpha running from October 16th to October 25th. Xbox players will have to wait for the full release, unless Offworld offers another chance to test the console version before release.
The developer promises a console-optimized experience with hand-picked maps, a "custom vest for flawless performance," optional cross-play with other consoles, and new communication methods via a radial wheel that lets you issue commands and pings. The game is expected to bring its 50v50 matches to consoles as well.
It will be interesting to see if Squad can beat Wardogs to consoles. Bulkhead has previously announced that Wardogs will hit consoles in 2028, and recently told IGN that the game is expected to get a port to next-gen hardware once it's released. The studio also revealed that it built Wardogs with the Xbox Series S in mind, ensuring that it will be optimized not only for consoles, but also for low-end PCs.
