ESPN says it is trying to fix Jason Kelce's broadcasting habit that drives football fans crazy

Despite ESPN's efforts to curb the habit, Jason Kelce again said "we" during the Philadelphia Eagles-Jacksonville Jaguars London broadcast, drawing sharp reactions from fans on X.

Gronk and Julian Edelman broke up the Eagles' devastating loss to the Jaguars after taking the lead with 8 seconds left.

For Jason Kelce, old habits are hard to break. And for fans outside of Philadelphia, they're getting old.

A few weeks ago, on "Monday Night Football," Kells referred to the Philadelphia Eagles as "us" at halftime of their Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, and ESPN has said that should change.

"We've tried to take the 'we' out of him," longtime ESPN producer Jeff Duffin told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Duffin noted that using "we" is a common mistake former athletes and coaches make when talking about their old teams.

"We played really well offensively, we had some chances, we shot ourselves in the foot, but we moved the ball, we executed the ball well," Kelce said during the Sept. 28 broadcast.

Pat McAfee didn't let Kells' comments slip, saying, "We talk a lot about Jason for Philly."

Kelce, who played 13 seasons for the Eagles, later apologized for the slip. The 38-year-old player announced the Eagles and Jaguars game in London on Sunday. Addressing his earlier comments as "we," he assured Jaguars fans that he would do his best to remain neutral during the game.

"I want to assure Jags fans that I've seen a lot of Jags accounts before that say they're not looking forward to this," Kells said on New Heights. "I'll do my best to give you guys the credit you deserve. Jacksonville is playing as good as any team in the AFC right now. I really believe that."

Social media users weren't thrilled with Kelce's performance in Sunday's booth, highlighting the former Eagles star's prejudices. At one point in the game, when the Eagles turned the ball over to Jacksonville, Kells said "we" turned the ball over.

"Here's an idea. Keep him away from Eagles games," wrote one user on X.

Another was a little harsher, asking, "Have they tried to get Jason Kelce out of the booth?"

“Feeled like I was watching an Eagles preseason game,” posted a different fan on X.

One X user wrote: “ESPN should kick (Jason Kells) out of the booth forever.

Dufine, on the other hand, praised Kelce before Sunday's Eagles-Jaguars tipoff.

"He sees the game really well," Duffin said. "Just tell me what you see, and we'll do our best to support you throughout the game."

Kelce's next mission is to announce the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints on October 25 in France.
