Houthis Vow Retaliation If US Joins Saudi Campaign (Video)

Yemen's Houthis have threatened to attack American forces if Trump intervenes alongside Saudi Arabia amid escalating clashes.

Yemen's Houthis have warned the United States against joining Saudi Arabia's military campaign and threatened to attack the American forces if Washington intervenes in the escalation of the conflict.

This confrontation has escalated after the Houthis' deadly attacks on Saudi Arabia's main international airport. According to the latest statistics, Saturday's attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport killed at least 13 people, including an American citizen, and injured more than 300 people. Another attack on Sunday left one person dead and 11 injured.

Speaking to RT on Sunday, officials in Houthi-controlled Sanaa warned that US military intervention would trigger retaliation, including against US warships in the Red Sea and the strategic Bab al-Mandab strait. The warning comes after US President Donald Trump said Washington was looking to join Saudi Arabia's attacks against the Iranian-backed movement.

The latest escalation comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen's decade-long conflict. In September, the Houthis made major territorial gains along the Red Sea coast and around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, including the capture of the port city of Moka. Saudi-backed government forces have since launched a counterattack, claiming to have retaken key positions near the vital shipping lane that connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

Riyadh has intensified its airstrikes in support of the Yemeni government's offensive, while the Houthis have vowed to continue targeting Saudi airports and infrastructure until the kingdom ends its military operations and blockade of Yemen.
