UEFA Grants Olympiacos Special Permission for Marseille Match

UEFA said Olympiacos fans may attend their team's Thursday night Europa League match against Marseille at the Vélodrome Stadium.

According to "Verzeh Se", this decision was taken after the French authorities backed down from the controversial security restrictions. The uncertainty about these restrictions had caused the Greek club to ask its fans to refrain from traveling to Marseille to avoid possible risks and financial losses.

However, UEFA welcomed the lifting of the restrictions and stressed that the presence of away fans is important to maintain the integrity of the competition. The organization also expressed regret for the confusion and inconvenience caused to the club and its fans.

Meanwhile, Marseille police said no official decision had been issued to ban Olympiacos fans from traveling and that the initial restrictions were limited to wearing the club's uniform and displaying its symbols in the city center and around the stadium. According to the police, these restrictions were canceled after security measures were strengthened and necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of the fans.

The French authorities also emphasized that more security measures have been taken to welcome the fans and now the decision to travel and attend the match is their responsibility.
