Yazd - The CEO of Yazd Province Electricity Distribution Company announced the discovery of 83 illegal cryptocurrency mining devices in an abandoned livestock farm in one of the villages of Taft city in Yazd province.

According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoting from the public relations of the Electricity Distribution Company of Yazd province, Mohammad Javad Jalili said: 83 illegal cryptocurrency mining devices were identified and discovered in an abandoned livestock farm in Taft city.

He said: In this operation, which was carried out with the cooperation of the anonymous soldiers of Imam Zaman (AS), the Economic Security Police and the Taft City Prosecutor, in addition to confiscating 83 miner devices, four people were also arrested in connection with this case.

Explaining the method of the offenders to steal energy, he said: In this case, the electricity needed by the miners was supplied illegally by directly branching from the transformer cable, before the meter and through underground cabling, which is an example of encroaching on public rights and stealing electricity.

The CEO of Yazd Province Electricity Distribution Company stated that the consumption of this unauthorized center is estimated at 2,500,000 kilowatt-hours per year, and added: This amount of consumption is equal to the annual needs of about 1,000 households, which has imposed a heavy financial and technical burden on the network.

Jalili emphasized: Unauthorized tampering with the electricity network is considered a violation of the rights of other subscribers, and the Yazd Province Electricity Distribution Company will take serious action in cooperation with judicial and law enforcement authorities to identify and deal decisively with unauthorized cryptocurrency mining centers in the province.
