Louis van Gaal:/ Manchester City made me miserable with its violations!
Louis van Gaal says Manchester City's misconduct led to his sacking from Manchester United.
According to "Sports Three", Van Gaal, the former head coach of Barcelona Club, attributed the suffering and hardship he experienced during his tumultuous departure from Manchester United in 2016 to the financial violations caused by 114 accusations by Manchester City Club. This Dutch coach was fired by the Glazer family at the end of the 2015-16 season. This season, Manchester United won the FA Cup but failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Manchester City and Manchester United finished that Premier League season on 66 points, but Manchester City, then managed by Manuel Pellegrini, qualified for the Champions League on goal difference. In an email to Athletic, Van Gaal said: "In my opinion, at the time, the failure to qualify for the Champions League in 2016 was probably the deciding factor in my sacking from Manchester United and it had many consequences and caused a lot of suffering and hardship."
Van Gaal, who took a year off after leaving Manchester United and will not return to coaching until 2021, insisted that "without a doubt" things could have been different had he been competing in a fair environment. The Dutch coach's tenure at Old Trafford coincided with a period between 2009 and 2018, during which it was found that Manchester City had artificially increased their income through sponsors. "I can't go back, not even the FA can do that," he admitted.
"That's for the judge to decide," he said of the possible punishment for Manchester City.
