Higher Ground's Podcast "Young Man and Three" Bridges the Gap (Exclusive)
Production investment founded by Barack and Michelle Obama will help expand the basketball media platform.
It's no secret that former President Barack Obama is a huge basketball fan. Now the company he founded with his wife, Michelle Obama, has entered the basketball podcast space.
Their company, Higher Ground, partners with The Young Man and the Three (YM3) basketball podcast as their executive producer and creative partner.
YM3 is hosted by Tommy Alter (a spinoff of The Old Man and the Three, which Alter co-founded with Lakers coach JJ Redick) and is set to return Thursday for its new season with guests including Jalen Williams, Jared McCain and Ajay Mitchell. Obama himself is a former guest of this program.
Higher Ground is no stranger to basketball. The producer was on Netflix's documentary series Starting 5, as well as the Olympics-focused Golden Court. Still, the deal with YM3 gives it a significant foothold in basketball podcasts and bets it will help expand the platform.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome the Higher Ground team to the YM3 family," said Tommy Alter. "There are no bigger supporters of the NBA and WNBA on earth than the Obamas, and having President Obama on the show's inaugural episode was an amazing springboard for the show and its growing community. The entire YM3 team and our rotating cast of player contributors are thrilled to welcome them to the fold."
YM3 has built a special basketball platform that is deeply connected to the people, personalities and culture Dan Fairman, President of Higher Ground Podcasts added, “As basketball has always been an important part of the Higher Ground ecosystem, this is very exciting for us. We're excited to partner with the YM3 team and help expand what they've created as the platform enters its next chapter.
