Why Must We See 'The Island'? Here, Breath Is Held
On the occasion of the staging of 'The Island', directed and designed by Akbar Zanjanpour and currently running in the Chaharsou Hall of the Tehran City Theatre complex, playwright, director and actor Hamidreza Naeimi published a text.
According to Mehr reporter, Hamidreza Naimi, a theater writer, director and actor, published a text under the pretext of performing the show "Jazeera", which was staged these days by Akbar Zanjanpour and Akbar Zanjanpour and Saeed Dakh in Chaharso Hall of Shahr Theater Complex.
In the text published by Hamidreza Naimi, which was provided to Safir Arjan Art Group, it is stated:
"Ostad Akbar Zanjanpour is the most popular, magnificent and powerful actor that I have seen and known in my entire artistic and working life. His roles in the shows "The Last Game", "Arthur Oui", "Prince of Ehtjab", "One Thousand and One Nights" and teletheaters such as "Patrice Lumumba" and "John Gabriel Burkman", are all acting classes.
The master of Zanjanpur has chosen one of the most essential plays to direct and stage this year. The play "The Island" by Athol Fugard is definitely not the best work of this playwright, but it is the most different subject and story he wrote. A work that beautifully displays the concept of suffering, pain, captivity and loneliness of humanity not only in the present age but in all ages.
The story of two people named John and Winston who spend their sentence in a prison located on an island. John receives the news of his release, but Winston is devastated. Moment by moment, the work scratches the audience's soul and soul, slaps the audience and forces them to give up their inherent laziness and think a little.
Master Akbar Zanjanpour shows that creativity knows no boundaries and age with the calculated design of movement, light, make-up, clothes, stage and multimedia. They beautifully present a well-rhythmic and impressive work from the difficult text of "Jazeera", which in moments creates the breath in the audience's chest and anger that should reach the cry, and it must be said that after seeing this work, the passion for directing and acting in the theater will come alive in the heart of every expert viewer.
Without exaggeration, Master Akbar Zanjanpour is one of the undisputed legends of Iranzmin theater, along with the names of great people such as Bahram Baizaei, Akbar Radi, Bijan Mofid, Hamid Thargyan, Roknuddin Khosravi, and Ali Rafiei.
In terms of acting, "Jazeera" shows the literacy, research, understanding, perspective, analysis, guidance and creativity of a great generation that produced actors such as Parviz Fenizadeh, Ezzatullah Tzami, Ali Nasirian, Dawood Rashidi, Mohammad Ali Keshavarz, Parviz Sayad, Manouchehr Farid, Jamshid Mashaikhi, Mehdi Fathi, Saeed Poursamimi, Khosro Shakibaei, Farhad Aish, etc.
What should happen when an actor at the blessed age of eighty-two years old is fresher and fresher on the stage?
Professor Akbar Zanjanpur shows that he is still a student as a professor, he is looking for new discoveries. For this reason, he delights the audience as refreshingly as possible, even when he is not on the stage, the warmth of his presence and energy can be felt and perceived on the stage.
And as for Saeed Dakh; In the role of Winston, he has reached his highest level of acting. At the height of emotional flexibility, he plays moments where it must be said that he is standing on the shoulder of his master, and he is a confident actor to play the royal roles of the theater, and this was not possible without the unique guidance of His Excellency Akbar Zanjanpour.
Playing the role of "Antigone" was a sharp edge that if Saeed Dach fell into the abyss of sentimentalism or if he was not aware that the role of Antigone was played by Winston and not himself, the show and Saeed Dach would have been destroyed. But he cleverly plays this moment brilliantly, and the beauty and impact of this scene becomes a hundredfold when Master Akbar Zanjanpour makes a sacrifice and by designing a movement, he disappears from the audience's view and goes behind the curtain so that we can only hear his voice in the role of "Kreon Shah". The show ends. The audience lights up. But amazement and disgust does not allow us to clap for a few minutes. Are we the audience stuck on an island?
And the last word... Greetings to Kehbod Taraj, playwright, director and theater actor who is a sympathetic companion for Master Akbar Zanjanpour; How good it is to be like this... May you all stay forever."
