Roy Keane vs. Lisandro Martinez/attack on the United star: You made the team a circus, shut up!
Roy Keane strongly criticized Lisandro Martinez's comments against Manchester United managers.
According to "Sports Three", Kane attacked the defender after Martinez's controversial comments about the managers of Manchester United. This Argentinian central defender had publicly expressed his displeasure after the team's recent defeat. This former United captain was extremely unhappy with the timing and nature of these criticisms. Kane believes that the current players of this team are not in a position to blame others due to the drastic drop in their standards on the field.
Keane delivered a scathing assessment of Manchester United's culture on the Overlap podcast. He believes that this defender's outburst shows a much wider problem. "I think this is a reflection of the state of this club," he said. The situation there is obviously chaotic and a bit like a circus. "When United are in such a difficult period, the problem I have with the comments of some players is that they should always start with themselves and look at themselves first before making all these statements."
Keane was particularly upset that such criticisms were made by a player who himself is suffering from a decline in performance. He noted that Martinez has not played at a high enough level to make such bold statements publicly. He added: "Some fans will say that this is a great job and others will say that you are hurting this team by doing this, especially when such words come from a player who has not performed at his best and the team is also facing problems."
The legendary midfielder also rejected the notion that the Argentinian defender is a commanding voice in the dressing room. In a harsh tone, he described Martinez as merely a central defender who makes too many mistakes.
