Second Trial Session Held for Suspects in Murder of Dr. Mahfouzi

The second session on the case of the murder of Dr. Mahfouzi, former head of the Legal Medicine Organization, was held with the defendants blaming one another.

The defendants in this case made new statements and pointed the finger of accusation at the second-tier defendant.

According to the contents of the case, on August 30, 1401, a case of murder was reported in Saadatabad region. The first investigations showed that the victim was Dr. Ali Mahfovi, an anesthesiologist and former head of the Forensic Medicine Organization of the country, who was shot by an unknown man while leaving his house.

At the same time as the body was transferred to the forensic path, the detectives of the 10th Department of Intelligence began an extensive investigation to identify the perpetrator of the murder. In this way, Bahman and two other accused were arrested.

Parvez, the main perpetrator of the murder, confessed his crime during the interrogations and said: I met Bahman through another accused named Hamid, and Bahman hired me to kill Dr. Mahfozi.

He said: I have a history, and on the other hand, I had financial problems, and when I saw that I would get a good salary for killing an elderly man, I accepted, but now I regret it.

After completing the investigation and issuing the indictment, the case was sent to Branch 5 of Tehran Criminal Court for handling. In the hearing, first the indictment was read against the accused, and then the parents were present and demanded the issuance of a retribution sentence.

Next, the accused in the first row appeared in the stand. He accepted the charge of murder and said: I agreed to commit murder in exchange for receiving a sum of money. Bahman provided me with money and weapons. I met the engineer through my friend, who is currently under arrest, and then I committed murder. I did not know Dr. Mahfouzi at all and had no reason to kill him.

He was an engineer who asked me to do something for him; He also showed me Dr. Mahfozi's house and even said that every day he parks his car under an olive tree and exercises, and you can shoot him anywhere. He was supposed to give me 200 million tomans.

When it came to the rich engineer, he said: I do not accept the charge. I did not ask him for help to kill and I had no reason to kill at all.

Then the third-tier accused came to the stand and explained: I was working in Shahryar and I was a colleague of the first-tier accused. One day he told me that he wants to get a certificate but he is not literate. I decided to take him to someone to make things easier for him. After we went on a date and came back, we sat in a restaurant to eat. That's where I met the engineer.

The engineer was one of my acquaintances and he owned a fish breeding center. After we talked, he said he needed a worker. I also introduced my friend, who is now the first accused, as a worker. It was not about murder at all; I was not present during the murder and I do not know what happened.

When it came to the lawyers, Guderzi, Bahman's lawyer, who was arrested on the charge of ordering the murder, said: There was one person in this case who was not fully investigated and was released, while the investigation of him could have solved the problem.

Due to the objection made by this lawyer, the judges postponed the proceeding. The second hearing was held this morning. At the beginning of the meeting, the lawyer of the parents of Dem said: We still believe that the accused in the first tier did not have a personal motive for killing Dr. Mahfouzi and was bribed by the accused in the second tier.

The court has issued a bail of 50 billion tomans for the second-tier accused, which is nothing compared to the property that Bahman has, and there is a possibility of his escape. This man has authority in murder and has planned everything.

Then the accused in the first row took the stand. He once again said that he accepts the charge of intentional murder and is sorry. This man repeated his previous statements and said: I wanted to get a certificate but I was not literate. It was there that I met the third-rate defendant and he was supposed to help me. He said let's go together to Tarem, there is someone there who can give a certificate.

I went to Taram with him. We went to a restaurant and that's where I met Bahman. He asked me some questions and when he found out that I was unemployed, he said, come to Tehran, I will give you a job. We made a date in a restaurant in Tehran. Then he asked me to kill someone. He said he would pay me well. I was material. I was smoking glass and I was not normal.

At first I agreed, then I said no. He threatened me and said that I will take your wife and children hostage and force you to do this. I accepted out of fear.

The defendant continued: I came to Tehran at 6 o'clock on the day of the incident. I got off at Azadi Square and went to Saadat Abad. Bahman used to call me regularly. He said that at a quarter to eight, the doctor leaves the house and a 206 follows him. He even said that he has five million tomans in his pants pocket. He has two mobile phones in his coat pockets.

He is also wearing a leather bag with seven to eight million tomans in it, take that too. When I arrived, I fired two shots with the gun he had given me. I killed the doctor and then ran away. I made a big mistake.

Then the accused of the second row was placed in the stand. He denied everything and said: I was innocently detained for 14 months. It is not true that they say that I had a disagreement with the doctor. He was a doctor and I was an engineer. We were building towers, our difference was work.

He interfered in my engineering work. That was the thing that caused our difference. I had no reason to kill him. The statements of the accused in the first row are lies. He was going to sell me a car and there was no other issue involved. I saw him once in Taram and the second time in Tehran he brought a customer for a car.

Then, the third accused came to the stand and said: I had no knowledge of the murder. The two defendants did it themselves. I was not present during the murder, but I know that the accused in the second row had a fight with several people and said that he was going to take revenge on one person.

At the end, the judges came to a decision.
