Qazvin Red Crescent Prepares for Possible Floods

The deputy for relief and rescue of the Qazvin Provincial Red Crescent Society announced a tabletop-and-field drill aimed at assessing the readiness of relief forces and strengthening coordination to respond to possible floods.

Qazvin Province Red Crescent Relief and Rescue Deputy announced the holding of a round table-operational exercise with the aim of evaluating the readiness of rescue forces and strengthening coordination to respond to possible floods.

According to Ambassador Arjan from Qazvin; "Gholamreza Dosti", the deputy of Red Crescent Society of Qazvin province, announced the holding of a special round-table-operational exercise of the rescue and rescue network's branches and representative offices across the province at the place of Red Crescent Society and said: The purpose of holding this exercise is to evaluate the mental and managerial readiness of operational teams.

Dosti added: Considering the weather forecasts and the possibility of the El Nino phenomenon, which can lead to heavy rains and floods in different regions of the province, the holding of these exercises has been prioritized.

Referring to the objectives of this exercise, he said: In this operational meeting, different flood scenarios were simulated so that the heads of branches, representative offices and rescue officials could test their capabilities in the field of calling troops, arranging equipment, managing resources and how to deploy in the affected areas.

Dosti clarified: The main focus of this maneuver was on the "relief and rescue network of branches and representative offices" to ensure that the coordination between the Operation Control and Coordination Center (EOC) and all parts of the province is at the highest possible level. Identifying possible weaknesses, updating the equipment database and increasing the speed of action in critical decisions were among the other achievements of this round table exercise.

In the end, the deputy of Red Crescent Society of Qazvin province noted: El Niño phenomenon and climate changes have shown the necessity of advance preparation more than ever.
