Emir of Qatar: The Region Has Faced Exceptional Events / We Took Part in Ceasefire Efforts and Reopening of Waterways
The Emir of Qatar stated that his country has always preferred to resolve disputes through negotiation and peaceful diplomatic means.
Al-Jazeera wrote: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani claimed that Qatar was targeted by Iran's invasion of its territory. An action that was a clear violation of the sovereignty of this country, he added: Our country and the region faced exceptional events that once again proved the coherence of government institutions. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the damage caused to Ras Lafan caused a significant disruption in the country's exports.
Stating that Qatar's policies before the current crisis made it possible to manage the consequences of the crisis up to this stage, he said: Qatar will not get out of this crisis unless it is accompanied by greater flexibility and a higher ability to adapt to global developments.
The Emir of Qatar further pointed out that Qatar supplies about one-fifth of the world's liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade, and any changes affecting this country will affect the markets and consumers as well.
Sheikh Tamimi bin Hamad Al Thani further stated that the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and maintaining their sovereignty is non-negotiable, adding: During this crisis, Qatar has prioritized protecting its sovereignty and playing its role in the security of global energy and economy. We condemn Israel's continued aggression against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Pointing out that we will continue to work with our brothers and international partners to maintain a safe and stable region, he clarified: What happened in the Gaza Strip is undoubtedly genocide and its perpetrators should not escape accountability. We warn of the dangers of settler attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, which are carried out under the auspices of the Israeli army.
