He respected me/ the story of the company's controversial contact with the Leipzig star
Maxim Steve explained about Vincent Kompany's contact with him after his transfer to Bayern Munich.
According to "Sports Three", in a conversation with Sport One, Steve addressed rumors about the company's desire to take him to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024 and recounted a memory of that era. Kompany had just left the defender's former club, Burnley, to take charge of Germany's most prestigious club in an unexpected move.
The 24-year-old defender said about these rumors: "I really don't know. But I have a clear memory of that time and the rumors about the company and Bayern. Towards the end of his time at Burnley, there were frequent reports that he might leave the club. After our last game against Nottingham, when we got relegated, I asked him if he would stay at the club despite the relegation. His initial answer was positive. "When the talks with Bayern got serious that summer, he called me personally to let me know."
The defender emphasized that the company had made this call out of "respect". "Because we had such a conversation after the game against Nottingham," he said. He didn't have to do it, but it just shows what a great character he is. I have a lot of respect for him."
