According to the new resolution of the Tehran City Council, the municipality will be allowed to receive one percent of the income of companies providing smart passenger services for monitoring. This decision was announced while the issue of the limits of the municipality's powers regarding internet taxis is also discussed.
The head of the Civil and Transportation Commission of Tehran City Council announced the approval of receiving one percent of the income of internet taxi companies and said: The income from this approval will be spent on the development of public transportation in the capital.
According to Arjan's ambassador, Seyyed Jafar Tashri Hashemi said today, on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the 438th session of the Tehran City Council and in the presence of reporters, referring to the Sustainable Income Law of Municipalities and Rural Districts, he stated: According to this law, municipalities are allowed to receive the price of the services they provide in some cases.
He continued: In addition, according to the approval of the Ministry of Interior, the monitoring and control of cars and drivers of companies providing smart passenger services and monitoring the activities of these companies has been entrusted to the municipalities.
Tashri Hashemi said: Today in the Tehran City Council, it was approved that the municipality will receive one percent of the income of online taxi companies and smart passenger service providers for monitoring rights.
Not long ago, the publication of the first vice president's letter about the government's agreement to monitor internet taxis was interpreted as the transfer of authority to the municipalities, but the investigations showed that the government has not made any decision to change the licensing of these internet businesses, and now we have to see if the council's decision is in line with the regulations related to internet taxis or not?
Hashemi stressed: The resources from this resolution will be spent only for the development of public transportation and will be allocated for repairing buses, buying new buses, and maintaining other equipment needed by the city's public transportation.
