Danna Energy's Downhole Drilling Bits and Equipment to Boost Drilling Efficiency

Danna Energy's downhole drilling bit and equipment business has been operating since 2009, aiming to develop engineering services in the selection, optimization and management of drill bits.

According to Safir Arjan's commercial report, Dana Energy Company's drill and downhole equipment business started its activity in 2008 with the aim of developing engineering services in the field of selection, optimization and management of drilling drills, and during nearly two decades of activity, it has become one of the specialized units active in the country's drilling chain.

By changing the approach of using drill bits from supplying goods to providing engineering services, this unit has tried to manage the process of selecting, using and optimizing drill bits in a data-oriented manner and in accordance with geological conditions, formation pressure and the characteristics of each project.

Formation of an engineering approach in drill selection

The idea of starting this business was formed in 2007 and it officially started its activity in August 2008. The main focus from the beginning was on providing an engineering solution rather than just supplying the drill.

This approach led to the transfer of the decision-making process about drill selection from procurement departments to technical teams; A topic that made it possible to analyze field data, use specialized software, and collaborate with reputable foreign brands.

As an example of the new drilling records obtained in oil and gas fields, in the Sepehr and Jafir oil fields project, using a 24-inch PDC drill, model MS1953, manufactured by BESTEBIT, a drilling record of 403 meters was recorded in 12.5 hours; The record is declared as the highest drilling speed recorded in these fields.

Also, in this project and by the above drill, with the participation of Pajhwok Energy Engineering Services Company (PECO), a total drilling of 3,302 meters in 296 hours and an average drilling speed of 11.13 meters per hour have been recorded.

Development of services based on asset optimization

In continuation of the activities, services such as Whipstock, Hole Opener and rental model drill and special drilling equipment have been added to the service portfolio of this unit. In addition to reducing the costs of drilling projects, the rental model has provided the possibility of continuous monitoring of equipment quality, the use of special drilling tools to increase efficiency, modify the design and increase the life of drills.

Life cycle management of drills and optimization and repeated use between projects are considered indicators of technical maturity in the drilling industry, and attempts have been made to implement this approach in domestic projects.

Development programs and international interactions

This business intends to strengthen its role as a technical representative of international drilling equipment brands in the Iranian market. Today, in terms of expert manpower and operational experience of drilling and downhole equipment business, Dana Energy is in a position that, if the conditions are met, it can play the role of technical intermediary between foreign companies and domestic projects.
