Malavani and Kolbari Trade Under Standards Scrutiny; Monitoring Continues

The head of the Standards Organization stressed continued oversight of imports of malavani and kolbari goods. He said that although the volume of these goods has increased, the necessary controls and supervision remain in place.

The head of the standard organization said: Emphasizing on the continuation of supervisions on the import of seafaring goods and kohlrabi, he said: Although the volume of these goods has increased, the necessary controls and supervisions are still in place.

According to Mehr reporter, trade from Kolbari and Malvani routes has been accompanied by an increase in the volume of imports and expansion of the list of permitted goods, and the quality control and compliance of these goods with national standards is one of the important issues in border trade management. An issue that the head of Iran's National Standard Organization emphasizes on the continuation of supervision.

According to published reports, the value of goods imported from Kolbari route in the first five months of 1405 has reached about 396 million dollars. Also, in West Azerbaijan, by the end of August, 140,713 tons of goods worth 208 million dollars were imported through border trade. While in the same period of last year, the volume of imports from this route was 870 tons worth about 3 million dollars. This statistic indicates a significant increase in the activity of this procedure in one of the important border regions of the country.

On the other hand, the list of goods subject to importation through Kolberi and Malvani procedures has also been updated this year. In the sixth edition of this list, items including some petrochemical raw materials, types of batteries, electronic components and industrial equipment were added to the importable goods. Expanding the list of permitted items highlights the need for coordination between the agencies responsible for trade, customs and standards to implement import regulations and assess the quality of goods.

Continuous monitoring of the standard of imported goods

In the same context, Farzaneh Ansari, head of Iran's National Standard Organization, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, emphasized the continuation of supervisions on the import of sailors' and colbert goods and said: Although the volume of these goods has increased, the necessary controls and supervisions are still in place.

According to the vice president, even during the war, certain instructions were formulated and communicated to organize imports from these routes.

He stated: The import of seafaring goods is carried out based on the established rules and procedures, and these guidelines are being implemented especially in the northern and western borders of the country. Therefore, there is no particular problem in this area.

According to this report, according to the law on the organization and supervision of border trade, imports from Kolbari and Malvani routes must be done within the framework of the established criteria, and the registration of product information in the relevant systems, receiving the product ID, and tracking and determining the origin of currency are among the requirements of this process. Therefore, the organization of this business is not only limited to determining the list of permitted goods, and the implementation of legal and regulatory requirements in the stages of entering and supplying goods is also important.

In the field of standards, the assessment of the conformity of imported goods and the implementation of special enforcement methods for kolbari and sailor goods are among the issues that are on the agenda of the responsible institutions. The National Standard Organization had previously announced the formulation of the implementation method for assessing the conformity of imported goods from these routes and the holding of specialized working groups with the presence of managers and relevant officials. This shows that the facilitation of cross-border trade should be pursued simultaneously with the implementation of quality control mechanisms and conformity of goods.

Due to the increase in the volume of coulis imports in some regions and the updating of the list of goods subject to border procedures, it has become more important to continue monitoring the implementation of guidelines and evaluating the standard of imported goods. In the meantime, the emphasis of the head of the National Standard Organization on the continuity of controls indicates the necessity of implementing regulations along with facilitating border trade and organizing imports.
