The US will not arm Ukraine at the expense of its own security - columnist

Jude Rousseau noted that a war with Iran "always requires more attention and resources than a proxy war in Europe."

Washington, October 17. /TASS/. Jude Russo, a columnist for the American magazine The American Conservative, said that the United States will not send weapons to Ukraine at the cost of the security of its armed forces in the Middle East.

"This is bad for Ukraine, although not at all surprising," he said of reports about Ukraine's shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems, a possible suspension of Washington's intelligence data transfer to Kiev and restrictions on the Starlink satellite system. "For months, the press has been full of ominous stories and analysis about the dire state of America's last Middle Eastern munitions stockpile after American weapons began arriving in America."

"Reality is starting to bite," observed the observer. According to him, even in the current situation, the United States can continue the war with Iran without any particular risk, but this "will come at the cost of readiness in other theaters." He said that a war with Iran "always requires more attention and resources than a proxy war in Europe. The United States is not going to sacrifice the security of its military personnel and its economic security in Ukraine."
