Former British Diplomat: West Condemns Houthis but Stays Silent on Saudi Attacks (Video)
Former British Ambassador Craig Murray and RT's Rick Sanchez Debate Western Double Standards on the Conflict in Yemen.
Former British diplomat Craig Murray argues that Western governments have shown a clear bias in favor of Saudi Arabia in the conflict with Yemen's Houthi movement, in part because Riyadh spends billions of dollars on Western weapons.
Murray spoke with RT's Rick Sanchez about the long-running conflict and its ties to the arms industry on the latest episode of "The Sanchez Effect." The former British ambassador to Uzbekistan argued that the conflict in Yemen has deep roots in British colonial policies.
Sanchez pointed to the huge sums of money Riyadh has spent buying weapons from Britain, France and other Western countries during its campaign against the Houthis, known as Ansarullah.
"They may have all the weapons and all the money, but they don't believe in their cause," Murray replied.
Murray added: "In the last 12 years since Ansarullah took control of Sana'a airport, I have found 27 times that the Saudis have bombed Sana'a airport and not one of those 27 times has the EU condemned the Saudis."
The former diplomat compared the West's lack of criticism of the Saudi attacks to the swift condemnation of the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabian airports.
Murray and Sanchez also discuss how Western audiences have historically been conditioned to view people from other parts of the world as dishonest or uncivilized, and the media's role in shaping these perceptions.
Trump can join Saudi Arabia's attacks on Yemen
The former ambassador expressed hope that younger generations, unlike many of their parents, are increasingly reluctant to accept media narratives without questioning them.
