Kremlin Spokesperson: Russia Is Not Seeking to Exploit Rift Between US and Europe Over Ukraine Conflict

Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is seeking effective measures and responsible solutions that would pave the way for a peaceful settlement.

Moscow, October 12. /TASS/. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "Russia is not looking for a rift between the United States and Europe over the Ukraine conflict, but is looking for a solution that can pave the way for a peaceful settlement."

In response to the question whether Moscow believes that the position of US President Donald Trump on the peaceful solution of the Ukraine issue will lead to a split between America and Europe, he said: We are not looking for a split here, but we are looking for really effective measures and responsible solutions that will enable us to reach a peaceful solution.

US President Donald Trump has previously said that it is time for Ukraine to "get a new president". "I suggest they have a new leader who can make a deal," the president noted, because Zelensky "could make a lot of deals that for some reason he never does."

Meanwhile, after Trump's remarks, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen assured Zelensky of the EU's support, adding that the EU would fund the purchase of more missiles and drones for Kiev.
