Universities Play a Key Role in Mazandaran's Agricultural Transformation

SARI – The representative of the Supreme Leader in Mazandaran stressed the role of universities in transforming Mazandaran's agriculture, calling for the resolution of farmers' infrastructure problems and the strengthening of ties between universities and the executive sector.

According to Mehr reporter, Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Mohammadi Laini, on Tuesday evening, in the meeting of the head, deputies and the head of the representative body of the Supreme Leader at the Sari University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, appreciated the scientific and cultural activities of academicians and evaluated the role of this complex in promoting food security and agricultural development of the country.

Referring to the emphasis of the Martyr of the Revolution on making agriculture knowledge-based, he said: the university is the driving force of the country's progress, and academicians should be given more field of action to realize their scientific capacities. Knowledge-based transformation in agriculture is also not possible without using the power of universities and science and technology parks.

Criticizing the gap between the agricultural capacities of the province and the realization of knowledge-based agriculture, Mazandaran's representative, Vali-Faqih, added: despite its prominent position in agricultural production, Mazandaran is still facing basic problems such as providing the fuel needed by farmers and is far from achieving knowledge-based agriculture.

Ayatollah Mohammadi Laini emphasized the need to strengthen the cooperation of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with the Agricultural Jihad Organization and said: the limits of the responsibilities and areas of joint cooperation of these two institutions should be clearly defined so that the scientific capacities of the university can be used to solve the problems of the agricultural sector. It is also necessary to pay more attention to the comprehensive position of this university in the field of agriculture.

In another part of his speech, referring to the country's security conditions, he warned against the enemies' attempts to create internal insecurity and stated: The enemies are seeking to create chaos and insecurity inside the country to provide a basis for outside intervention, and universities are among their targets.

Referring to the importance of cultural and social issues in academic environments, the representative of Wali Faqih in Mazandaran stated: Issues such as lifestyle and chastity have also become the arena of cultural confrontation, and academics should pay attention to these issues in addition to their scientific responsibilities.

Enumerating the various responsibilities of academicians, Ayatollah Mohammadi Laini noted: promoting agricultural knowledge and sciences, cultural activities, paying attention to security issues and dealing with issues such as land grabbing and issues related to the lands of research centers are among the areas that require serious management and follow-up.

He also emphasized the necessity of accompanying science with human and moral values and said: science can serve the society when it is accompanied by religion, conscience, humanity, honor and moral values; Otherwise, scientific development will be a one-dimensional development regardless of these principles.

In the end, the representative of the Supreme Leader in Mazandaran emphasized on strengthening the convergence between cultural groups and academic organizations and called for more attention to the activities of the Supreme Leader's representative body, faculty mobilization, staff mobilization, and student mobilization.
