Tehran Is Becoming Child-Friendly

Director General of Public Transportation and Regional Affairs of Tehran Municipality announced the holding of the first meeting of the transportation and traffic working group of the child-friendly city in 1405.

According to Ambassador Arjan: Hamidreza Ranjbar said in this meeting: Based on the resolution of the Tehran Islamic Council, the issue of a child-friendly city was announced in 2008, and in 2014, the executive regulations of the Child-Friendly City Resolution, consisting of 11 articles and 2 notes, were prepared and notified by the Tehran Islamic Council to Tehran Municipality for implementation. According to the provisions of this executive regulation, there are 4 specialized working groups, one of these working groups is the transportation and traffic working group, and according to this working group, some tasks have been defined in various topics in the field of transportation.

The General Director of Public Transportation and Regional Affairs of the Vice-President of Transportation and Traffic added: In Tehran Municipality, the issues of securing city sidewalks for children, implementing the project of safe ways to school, requiring the use of special seats for children in public transportation, and other issues, are defined tasks that must be planned for their implementation. Transport and Traffic Organization, Deputy Transport and Traffic Departments of 22 regions, Greater Tehran Traffic Police, Education, General Directorate of Citizen Education, Traffic Control Company, Metro Operation Company, Bus Unit Company and General Directorate of Engineering and Traffic Safety of the Deputy General Directorate have duties in this field and their actions are followed up and monitored.

Ranjber said: In this meeting, the various groups of the transportation and traffic vice-chancellor presented a report of their activities in the first 6 months of this year on the topic of a child-friendly city, and it was decided to announce other planned programs to the secretariat of the working group by the end of the year. In the matter of transportation, some measures have been taken through activities such as the project to welcome the stamp. For example, in the issue of school safety, engineering measures and road safety have been carefully carried out to eliminate the least risk for the traffic of children and teenagers.

He added: One of the sectors that has a common executive is the adaptation of roads, which is the main part of the responsibility of the civil engineering technical assistants of the regions, and the transportation assistant is responsible for installing traffic elements and determining the location of vehicle parking.
