Creating 4 positions for the establishment of knowledge-based companies in Tehran

The deputy of financial and economic affairs of Tehran municipality announced the prediction of four opportunities for the development of technological infrastructure in the capital.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Sajjad Mohammad Alinejad, Deputy Director of Financial and Economic Affairs of Tehran Municipality, at the signing ceremony of the memorandum between Tehran Municipality and the Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, referring to the change in global approaches in evaluating the innovative capacities of countries and cities, he stated: In the past, indicators such as research and development were given more attention, but today the evaluation of the ecosystem of innovation is based on a set of components, from the commercialization of technology and digital infrastructure to Governance of technology and degree of synergy between different components of this ecosystem is done.

He stated that urban technologies have become one of the important areas of technology development and innovation, adding: Technology development in cities is directly related to people's well-being and has a high capacity to create new markets and expand innovation. Also, successful urban experiences can be developed in other cities and even on an international scale.

Tehran should become a livable city for technologists and elites

Referring to the approach of urban management in the recent period, the vice president of financial and economic affairs of Tehran Municipality stated: One of the main approaches of Tehran Municipality is to provide conditions for this city to become a livable environment for technologists, elites and technology companies. Along with this goal, we try to solve urban problems and challenges by relying on technology and innovation; Because the development of urban infrastructure alone is not enough to solve all the problems of big cities.

Mohammad Alinejad continued: On the one hand, Tehran Municipality needs technology and innovation to solve the city's problems and improve the quality of life of its citizens, and on the other hand, it considers itself one of the effective players in the innovation ecosystem, which can help the activity and development of knowledge-based and technological companies by providing the necessary infrastructure and platforms.

He emphasized: A significant part of the municipality's needs can be provided through the capacity of knowledge-based and technological companies. Also, urban management can provide the basis for the establishment, activity and growth of these companies with appropriate policies in the field of business environment and environment.

Creating new structures for technology development in Tehran municipality

Describing the measures taken to develop the technological ecosystem in this period of urban management, the deputy mayor of Tehran said: In recent years, we have tried to create the necessary structures for the development of technology and innovation in Tehran municipality. In this regard, the organization of new technologies was formed for the first time in the Tehran municipality to follow the policy and follow up the development of technology at the level of the municipality and the city of Tehran.

He added: In addition to the creation of this structure, the permission of the Science and Technology Park of Tehran Municipality has also been obtained in order to create a suitable infrastructure to support knowledge-based and technological companies active in the urban area, empower them and provide the necessary facilities for the development of their activities.

Referring to the necessity of coordination between different departments of the municipality, Mohammad Alinejad stated: We have tried to provide a mechanism so that the organizations, companies and regions of Tehran municipality can identify their issues and needs and take action to solve them by coordinating and using technological capacities.

Forecasting the establishment capacities of knowledge-based companies in 22 districts of Tehran

He also informed about the planning for the development of infrastructure for the establishment of technology companies in different parts of the capital and said: In this context, four locations have been considered for the development of technology infrastructure in Tehran, one of which is Velayat Park.

Referring to the role of the 22 regions in the development of urban innovation, the Deputy Director of Financial and Economic Affairs of Tehran Municipality said: In each of the municipal regions, according to the local capacities, including the presence of universities and scientific centers, the activities of private companies and the existing specialized focuses, areas for the development of technology and the creation of innovation centers have been identified and pursued.

Development of innovation areas in long-term urban plans

Mohammad Alinejad considered one of the important measures to stabilize and accelerate the development of technology in Tehran to be the prediction of innovation areas in urban documents and plans and said: One of the effective tools for establishing knowledge-based companies and accelerating the development of technology is the formation of innovation areas. In this regard, we have tried to pay attention to this issue in the framework of Tehran's urban plans.

He added: The goal is to provide the basis for the formation of innovation areas along with the required facilities, infrastructures and concessions in the design and revision of urban plans, so that the development of these areas can be followed in a sustainable and lasting manner.

The deputy mayor of Tehran invited the officials of the science, technology and knowledge-based economy vice president to participate in this program and said: Tehran municipality is ready to hold an event in the next two weeks and present the various aspects of this plan in order to provide the institutionalization of innovation areas in urban planning documents and urban plans of Tehran with the cooperation of related collections.

He pointed out: If this goal is realized and related capacities are predicted in the process of revising urban plans, a lasting model can be created for the development of technological and scientific environments that can be modeled and used in other cities in addition to Tehran.
