Akhoundi: Military Alliances No Longer Work / We Need Cooperation to 'Manage Risk'

A former minister of roads and urban development, citing the failed experience of the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan-Turkey alliance, said the world's understanding of security has changed and a new definition of security is needed. 'We once pursued military alliances, but today my emphasis is that military alliances no longer work. Today we need cooperation solely for risk management. Financial risk, technology risk and market risk must be controlled.'

Referring to the unsuccessful experience of the coalition of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey, the former Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "The world's understanding of the concept of security has changed and it is necessary to find a new definition and understanding of security. We used to look for military alliances, but today I emphasize that the military alliance is no longer effective. Today, we need cooperation solely for "risk management"; Financial risk, technology risk and market risk must be controlled.
