Infographic The world's largest oil exporters
The United States will lead the world market in 2025, exporting 10.7 million barrels of oil per day. Relying on the prosperity of the shale industry, the United States has surpassed Saudi Arabia with a difference of 2.8 million barrels. The Middle East is also the largest regional supplier of oil in world trade with a share of 29.2%. Infographic post The world's largest oil exporters appeared first on Safir Arjan.
According to Ambassador Arjan, oil, as one of the most traded commodities in the world, plays a key role in determining fuel costs. Exporting countries can influence energy prices beyond their borders. According to data from OPEC's 2026 Annual Statistical Bulletin, in 2025, the United States has consolidated its position as the world's largest oil exporter, using new extraction technologies such as horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. These changes, along with the production capacities of different regions, have redefined the global energy export map.
America's lead based on the shale revolution
The United States is in first place with exports of 10.7 million barrels per day. Saudi Arabia has taken the second place with 7.9 million barrels per day. These two countries alone supply nearly a quarter of the world's oil exports. America's superior position is mainly due to the prosperity of the shale industry. With this industry, horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing made it possible to extract oil from hard rock layers. After that, the lifting of crude oil export restrictions in 2015 paved the way to access global markets.
Russia ranks third with 6.6 million barrels per day and the combined share of the top three countries has reached 33%. Canada with 4.1 million and the United Arab Emirates with 3.9 million barrels per day are in the next positions. It should be noted that this statistic includes crude oil (including gas condensate) and petroleum products. Large refining and trading centers such as the Netherlands and Singapore are also included in the list of large exporters.
Regional distribution and trade flows
At the regional level, the Middle East exports 22.4 million barrels per day, equivalent to 29.2% of the total global exports. Europe with a share of 21% (16.1 million barrels per day) and North America with 20.5% (15.7 million barrels per day) are next. The Asia-Pacific region also provides 14.2% of the total exports.
The huge oil reserves of the Middle East, which are caused by rich organic sediments and suitable geological structures, are the main factors of this region's superiority. Saudi Arabia accounts for more than one-third of the region's exports and, relying on low-cost fields and extensive pipeline networks, provides reliable supply to customers. In total, the Middle East and North America supply nearly 50% of global exports. On the demand side, Asia-Pacific receives 50.1 percent of global imports, reflecting the enormous scale of oil trade among distant regions.
