You don't need to buy a new Apple TV 4K to get Siri Remote with Find My and a built-in speaker, as it works with any model going back to Apple TV HD and is available to buy standalone for $59.
Previous Siri Remotes had a basic iOS feature that helped you find your misplaced remote, but this one is better, with one notable caveat. The remote now supports Find My, but if you want to see exactly how far away it is, with details like "20 feet" instead of "far" or "near," you'll need an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or any iPhone 17 or later. These are the only models that include the new N1 network chip with Bluetooth channel audio support that enables accurate AirTag tracking, but without the need for a UWB chip.
Find Me support is available on Siri Remote (2nd generation and later). Advanced search on the Siri Remote (4th generation) paired with an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or iPhone 17 or later (excluding iPhone 17e) running the latest iOS software. Availability varies by region.
As Stephen Robles pointed out in a post on Threads, compatibility with the new remote means that only a few features are limited to the new Apple TV 4K, including its built-in microphone and surround sound paired with HomePod speakers. It will launch on November 13th, at the same time as the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.
