Ravanbakhsh: Development Must Not Stop Even in Wartime / Completion of Downstream Industrial Chain Accelerates in Khuzestan

The Director-General of Industry, Mine and Trade in Khuzestan said Andimeshk is on the path of industrial development and attracting private sector investment.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Mehram Ravanbakhsh, Director General of Industry, Mining and Trade of Khuzestan, on Wednesday, October 22nd, during the ceremony of unveiling the industrial plan for sugar refining, sugar and cane production in Andimshek industrial town No. 2, he considered the development of private sector investment and the completion of value chains among the important industrial priorities of the province and said: "Andimshek, with appropriate economic capacities, can make an important contribution to the return of part of Khuzestan's lost share in the country's economy."

Referring to the country's economic conditions, Ravanbakhsh stated: Even in war conditions, development should not be stopped, and the development of economic activities should provide the basis for the growth and dynamism of different sectors. Today, we see that despite the difficult conditions, new plans are being implemented and exploited in Andimeshk.

Director General of Khuzestan, referring to the studies conducted on the economic situation of the province, added: Khuzestan's share of the country's gross domestic product in 2013 was about 21%, which decreased to 15.2% in 1401, and one of the important goals of the province is to compensate for part of this decrease through the development of economic and industrial activities.

He continued: In the conducted studies, Andimeshk was targeted as one of the cities with the economic growth capacity of the private sector, and fortunately, in recent years, good projects have been put into operation in this city, some of them are being implemented, and today we are witnessing the start of the implementation of a new project.

Emphasizing the necessity of completing the value chains in the province, Ravanbakhsh said: One of the important approaches of Samat is to identify the missing links of the value chains and support their completion, and conversion and processing industries are one of the sectors that have a significant capacity for development in Khuzestan.

The Director General of Industry, Mining and Trade of Khuzestan stated: The province has more than one million and 100 thousand tons of sugar production capacity, but a part of this product is taken out of the province for processing, and the completion of the transformation industry chain can increase the added value, create employment and make the income more permanent in Khuzestan.

Referring to the industrial plan for sugar refining, sugar and cane production in Andimeshk, he said: This plan is in line with the anticipated capacities of the city's industrial plan and completes one of the missing links in the sugar value chain. Therefore, its implementation can help strengthen the regional economy and reduce production and distribution costs.

Referring to the role of the private sector in choosing an investment location, Ravanbakhsh said: The private sector usually examines capacities and costs with an economic perspective and accurate calculations, and the choice of Andimeshk for the implementation of this project also shows that the investor has paid attention to the advantages of the region and the reduction of costs.

He added: due to the forecast increase in fuel and transportation costs, the establishment of processing units near the place of production of raw materials can reduce the cost of transit; In this plan, instead of being transferred to other provinces for processing, sugar and raw materials are processed in the same region and then distributed.

General Manager of Samat Khuzestan stated: In addition to reducing transportation and production costs, this approach can help rationalize the distribution process and better control the finished price of products.

Appreciating the investors of this project, Ravanbakhsh said: Follow-up is one of the main factors for economic projects to come to fruition, and the private sector is a good example for government institutions in this regard. Samet Group and Industrial Towns Company also consider themselves obliged to accompany and facilitate the implementation of these projects.

In the end, he appreciated the operating banks, especially the Agricultural Bank and the Saderat Bank, for providing financial resources needed for industrial projects and added: the cooperation of the executive bodies, the banking system and the private sector can accelerate the process of implementing industrial and job-creating projects in the province.
